Handmade Gifts 2 Pink Sardines

I found a cute new shop!! It is called 2 Pink Sardines. It is owned by two Portuguese sisters, one living in Faro, and the other in Lisbon. They also have a beautiful blog they started 5 years ago called Pano p'ra Mangas. When I asked what that meant in English, one of the sisters, Margarida, let me in on their story.

"The name of our blog does not translate into English. Pano p'ra Mangas means something like... many things can come from something. Because the meaning gets lost in translation, a few weeks ago when we decided to open an Etsy shop, we chose a more "international" name without forgetting our national roots. That's why we decided on 2 Pink Sardines.

We started out years ago by making some fused glass jewelery, but as soon as we found our mother's old box of felts, we moved on to that material... and for about two years that was our favourite. From felt onto handmade felt, and from there to fabrics was just a tiny and natural move. We've been working with fabric for the last two years and once in a while we try different materials and techniques. We learned a lot from our mother!  We also attend workshops when something interesting is available, surf the web, and spend a lot of money on crafting books!

We love everything we make and we put all our effort, love, and care into each item we sew. We wouldn't do it other way. We always pay attention to the smallest detail and finishes, and that is what makes the difference. You'll never see two similar items. We are now making bibs, clutches, pouches and as Spring arrives, we'll start working on children clothes."
