Handmade Gifts: Made By Swirly Girl

While looking for fun and imaginative holiday cards one day, I came across Made By Swirly Girl's Etsy site. I immediately fell in love with the beautiful photography, and the digitally enhanced and transformed images.

Laurie is the artist behind Made By Swirly Girl, a nickname given to her by her husband after noticing her swirly doodles. Over the years she has developed several lines of cards and photo art, and enjoys making custom orders as well. Made By Swirly Girl began when her inventory had clearly grown beyond the number of gift and card-giving occasions she was capable of dreaming up.  A self proclaimed craft addict, Laurie has dabbled in just about every form she's heard of. She has finally found the medium that brings her the immediate gratification she requires to keep her short attention span from wandering to the next craft, saving her from yet another financial investment and the dilemma of storage! At least for now.

Laurie is inspired by nature, colors, textures, light, lines, and movement, and her art reflects all of these inspirations. She LOVES it when people tell her they love her cards so much that they want to keep them for themselves and frame them! All of her cards are made in her smoke-free home and are signed and dated. All of the photographs belong to Made by SwirlyGirl. Many of the handmade papers used were brought to her from Nepal by a very dear family member who lives there and visits her often. Laurie is so grateful to her and others who are a part of her evolution as an artist.

 

The Flower Power series starts out as photos of flowers that have colors that she likes, which she then digitally enhances before transforming them into something you can’t identify, but can’t stop looking at! Whirls of color, texture and movement!

Flower Power Blank Note Cards

The Flower Power blank note cards are 4 x 5 ½ inch blank cards and come in a set of 6 cards/envelopes per set, packaged in a clear gift box with a silver elastic bow to finish it off.  The digitally enhanced photographs are printed on premium photo paper with a high quality photo printer and inks, and then are adhered to heavy cardstock. Each card is signed and dated, has the name of the card style, and the Made By Swirly Girl logo labeled on the back. 

These are the perfect note cards to have on hand to send a special thank you or thinking of you, or to give as a gift to a child’s teacher, a friend, or as a hostess gift. Those with an interest in dance and the arts will especially appreciate them! They are also beautiful matted and framed!
