Handmade Gifts For Kids: WeeKnit

When buying gifts for children, I ask myself a few questions first. "Will they love it?" is the obvious first one. Second, does it help them to use their imagination while playing with it? Third, will their love of it last beyond the first few days of receiving it? Lastly, is it something that is made to last or will it end up in some landfill somewhere? I am very selective, and try to buy toys that have been handmade with natural materials, and that will bring kids lasting enjoyment.

Scouring Etsy one day, I found Wee Knit's adorable and fun finger puppets. Can I just first say that I immediately fell in love with their monster set? That I myself want some of my own to play with? They really are that cute. As I looked at each set of puppets, my love for this company grew.

FRIENDLY MONSTER FINGER PUPPET SET

WeeKnit's finger puppets encourage imagination, and they appeal to moms (and dads, grandparents, and even teachers) who are looking for toys that encourage that creativity. In a world where so many toys are battery-operated, WeeKnit really is a breath of fresh air. The finger puppets' small size and lack of noise also make them the perfect toy for travel, church, school, etc. Their finger puppets are a refreshing handmade option for party favors, replacing the traditional candy and cheap plastic toys.

FINGER PUPPET PARTY FAVORS PACK

WeeKnit consists of Tracy and her daughter Jenny. They have been creating their knit creations in the picturesque mountains of Pleasant View, Utah since 1981. Tracy is a WAHM (work at home mother) of 8 children (many of which have children of their own now).  She is the mastermind behind WeeKnit. The family calls her the chief “knit”wit. She is the designer and creator of the wonderful creations you’ll find at WeeKnit. Tracy’s "knit"wit days started when she began knitting ski hats to make money while still being a stay-at-home mom. From there, she started playing around with her knitting machine and eventually came up with a few finger puppets that her children enjoyed. She started selling her creations a few at local boutiques.

Her daughter Jenny is also a WAHM. She has two beautiful and rambunctious little girls, and has taken took a break from teaching 1st grade to focus on being mom. Jenny has joined the business, jumping in to assist making her mom's multitude of puppets, and helping to launch WeeKnit's business into the cyber-world. Jenny likes to tease Tracy that one day she will teach her to turn on the computer if she ever pries herself away from her knitting long enough to learn.

BUGS FINGER PUPPET SET

Among all of their products, WeeKnit's finger puppets are the majority of their business. Their best-selling finger puppet sets are Old McDonald, Zoo Animals, and Imaginary Pals. Their Monster Mania Set is a new creation that seems to be taking off as well. WeeKnit also has fun with seasonal items, with personalized Christmas Stockings and Easter Egglets as their most popular items.

WOODLAND CREATURES FINGER PUPPET SET

WeeKnit loves to make custom orders. They are certainly more than happy to switch up colors, and often come up with completely new creations for customers. Sometimes a customer even comes up with a request that becomes an addition to their shop permanently. Their Alice in Wonderland Set is one example of that happening.

Tracy and Jenny want their customers to feel comfortable when they purchase from them because they believe you are getting the best of both worlds. WeeKnit is a business that prides itself on being professional and dependable, yet hasn't forgotten that much of their appeal is that they are producing quality handmade products. Enjoy exploring their fun and imaginative world of knit creations!
