Handmade Gifts For Kids: SquidKid

As a mom, Martha Salazar enjoys sewing and creating things for her little one, and sees SquidKid as an opportunity to share her creations with you and your children. Based in Vancouver, B.C. and launched in 2009, her online store offers handmade children's clothing, accessories, re-useable party supplies, and more.

 Martha generally offers in-house designs, however she is always excited to know about other moms who like to use their creativity. SquidKid promotes buying handmade by featuring the work of other creative moms, making them available for you to enjoy as well.

Martha grew up in Mexico and although her mother had a sewing shop at home where she learned all about sewing, she didn't carry on with it. After working import/export in the dairy industry, teaching ESL, and coming to Canada to volunteer, it wasn't until 2007 when her daughter was born that she really got into sewing again.
